The Road to the Top Ten

With the submissions thread now closed, the selection process is well underway!

Our selection committee consisting of eight former Comic Book Idol contestants are going through the 180+ submissions and nominating artists for our “top ten.”

I’ve already begun contacting some of those nominees to verify their eligibility and officially invite them into the competition. If you’re hoping to hear from me, and you’re worried because it’s already past noon on Tuesday… it doesn’t mean you’re out of the running yet. I’m just now checking on the first few nominees, making first contact, verifying their eligibility, and/or waiting to hear back from them… so, keep hope alive!

Speaking of hope, I’m hoping to post the names of our ten contestants by Thursday afternon, but the process is taking longer than expected in part because of the caliber of entries making it difficult to narrow things down. We didn’t get as many submissions as we did in season two, although I believe we outdid season one, but the most important thing is that this year’s crop of hopefuls really raised the bar. Way to go!

The first round of the competition is now scheduled for Thursday, October 11th.

In the meantime, look out for a press release announcing the name of our third panel judge and the exciting assignment he’s adding to the already cool list of prizes for our winner!
