Now, as the official announcement is made on the ten finalists, I’ll finish our look at the fellows who made the decision, the former Comic Book Idol contestants. Today, the remaining Comic Book Idol 2 people take their bow.
Carlos Rodriguez won the second season of Comic Book Idol.
I believe this was one of Carlos’ assignments during the competition (but I could be wrong - I seem to recall this one being an assignment, and it matches Micah Gunnell’s assignment)…

After winning Comic Book Idol 2, Carlos began drawing for Jim Valentino’s Shadowline studio (a part of Image Comics). Carlos started with an issue of The Pact…

He then worked on Shadowhawk…

He also was the series artist on Shadowline’s Task Force 1.
Click here to visit Carlos’ site, where he shows some art samples of his.
Billy Penn did not have any of his old assignments from Comic Book Idol 2 to share, but he was nice enough to share with us the whole six-page back-up issue he did that appeared in the pages of Savage Dragon last year!

Billy is currently working on a few projects for Platinum Studios. He and his wife also teach at elementary schools.
Jason Masters shared with with me samples from his entries in Comic Book Idol 2…

Jason is a member of Ten Ton Studios. You can find their site here.
Here is some of Jason’s artwork…

Impressive stuff, eh?
You can see more of his work at his site here.
Finally, Joe Infurnari has found a good deal of different projects to keep himself occupied since he was on Comic Book Idol 2.
Joe did a notable job explaining it himself over on the Comic Book Idol forum, so I am just going to let him explain what he’s been up to…
Well, after my CBI experience I went back to work with my friends over at Caveman Robot and we published a full color 32 page book where I did all of the art and coloring. That summer I was a winner for Oni Press’ 2005 Talent Search. The result is that I’m illustrating the series, Borrowed Time with author, Neal Shaffer. In 2006, I published my own full color minicomic, Mandala and out of the success of that book, I launched my own ongoing webcomic called the Process. I also just finished creating character designs, backgrounds and illustrations for the proposed Caveman Robot animated television show. The animation bible that recently debuted at SDCC2007 is called, Caveman Robot! Behold the Dodecatron! On the horizon, I’ll have another book for Borrowed Time coming out early 2008, a fill-in issue #14 on The Wasteland with Antony Johnston and Chris Mitten and Mandala will be reprinted in the anthology, Fablewood from Ape Entertainment.
Thanks, Joe! That’s quite a mouthful!
Here are some pages of Joe’s from Borrowed Time…

And here are some pages from Caveman Robot…

Good stuff, Joe!!
Thanks to all the former Comic Book Idol contestants who came back and narrowed the 180 plus entrants down to ten finalists!
Tomorrow, I’ll begin our week-long look at this year’s ten finalists!
