Vince Hernandez had a great quote about Comic Book Idol 2 contestant Micah Gunnell and the Comic Book Idol contest as a whole that I thought would be nice to share with you all.
Well, by the time I took over as Editor-In-Chief, Micah Gunnell was just coming onboard as an artist over at Aspen and I’d only heard of his name through the grapevine. Our Executive Vice President Frank Mastromauro had spotted his talents on the CBI2 contest and wanted to give him a try on our Aspen line of books. And we couldn’t be happier with the result of Micah’s growth as an artist and his work on Shrugged and Soulfire: Dying of the Light. I really believe the competitive and professional nature of the Comic Book Idol contest helped to refine Micah’s skills as well as his expectations for what a professional comic book artist goes through.â€
I was ecstatic at the opportunity to be involved in Comic Book Idol because it’ll give me a frontline look at the competitors and their various artistic talents. The contest tests an artist’s ability to produce high-quality, professional-level work on a timely basis so it’s tailor-made for editors to find potentially the next great artist.
Vince knows of what he speaks!
